Opening the vault…
Your data is encrypted either way — this just decides where the encrypted files live.
Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave) can save your encrypted vault to a local folder — including a cloud-synced folder such as Google Drive — so you can back it up and move it yourself. Firefox, Safari and mobile browsers can't choose a folder and use in-browser storage instead. Browsers won't allow Downloads, Desktop or Documents directly, so pick or create a dedicated folder for the vault.
Everything is encrypted on this device with a password only you know. Three things worth knowing before you start:
Choose a profile to continue
Enter the recovery code you saved when creating this profile.
Confirm your current password, then choose a new one.
Restore an item to return it to your vault, or delete it permanently. Permanent deletion can't be undone and removes any attached file.
One self-contained encrypted file with every entry and attachment. This is how you back up and move your vault between devices (Model A). It stays encrypted — safe to keep in Drive.
Import entries from a .xlsx or .csv file. Plain export decrypts everything into a spreadsheet — handy for migration, but the file is unencrypted, so handle with care. Attachments aren't included in spreadsheet export.
A fully offline scan for reused, weak, and stale passwords. Nothing leaves your device.
Two independent settings for this app: how long until the vault soft-locks after inactivity, and how often your PIN is re-asked to view or edit while you're already unlocked. These apply to this app only — they are not shared with the browser extension, which has its own.
After this idle time the vault hides behind your PIN — your key stays in memory. Enter your PIN to get back into the vault, or log out / close the browser to clear the key. Locking to your PIN is less secure than logging out (your key stays in memory) — “Never” is the least secure of all, keeping the vault unlocked until you lock it, log out, or close the browser.
Re-asks for your PIN before revealing or editing details once this long has passed since you last entered it. Separate from auto-lock. “Never” means it won't re-ask to view or edit once you're unlocked.
Permanently removes this profile and all of its entries, attachments and backups. This cannot be undone. You'll be asked for your password and to type the profile name to confirm.
